Alpine Bank - Rifle South

The Alpine Bank – South Rifle, CO was awarded LEED-NC Certification. A well-insulated envelope, solar electric system, high-performance glazing, and energy-efficient lighting and mechanical systems all contribute to an expected 40% energy savings over a comparable, baseline building.  The bank uses low flow plumbing fixtures to save over 40% in indoor water use while drought tolerant turf and low water consuming plants save water outside.

The drive-thru canopy boasts a 6,500-Watt solar electric system that provides about 20% of the building’s electricity needs.  Daylight and motion sensors ensure that artificial lighting is used only when necessary.  Additionally, the building is equipped with an innovative Lighting Control System (LCS) that “harvests” natural daylight.  When spaces are receiving adequate natural daylight the LCS dims or completely shuts off the artificial lighting to save electricity consumption.    The highly efficient site lighting uses up to 75% less electricity than industry norms and minimizes light trespass and night sky pollution.
