Size: 65,000 sq. ft.

Architect: RNL Design

Owner: City of Fort Collins Utilities Service Center

Scope: Major remodel and renovation

Chad Mapp served as the Owner’s Representative for the City of Fort Collins on the Utilities Service Center remodel. This project was a major renovation of a 65,000 square foot occupied facility. The project involved remodeling the existing building layout and making major building envelope and energy efficiency improvements. The old HVAC system was at the end of it’s life and literally held together with duct tape. The HVAC system was replaced with a lake source geo-exchange HVAC system that significantly reduces energy consumption.

The project included remodeling to create improved facilities for Light and Power crews, optimize and integrate space in the entire building for improved staff productivity, reduce energy and water consumption, improve site sustainability practices, and enhance indoor air quality.

Special helical pier foundations were required due to the active underground river below.
