The South Transit Center is a LEED-Gold certified transportation hub located at the south terminus of the Mason Corridor. The project entailed new construction of a 4,300 sq. ft. building, 11 bus bays, covered passenger waiting areas, a 175-space park-and-ride facility, as well as bike and pedestrian trail connections. Sustainable design features incorporated into the building include in-floor radiant heat using a high-efficiency boiler, evaporative cooling, permeable concrete pavers, dual-flush toilets, low-flow faucets, urinals and shower heads as well as highly efficient lighting fixtures with automatic daylight and occupancy sensor controls. In addition, extensive daylighting and views to the outdoors are available throughout the facility.
